Director : Serafín Martínez MarzObra libre: "Overture To a New Age", de Jan de Haan.First formed in 1922, the band established itself as the Banda de Música Unión Patriótica one year later. The band inaugurated its own building in 1929 in a ceremony dedicated to the president-founder, Pascual Arbos Sena, a lieutenant-colonel in the Spanish general staff. The mayor of Valencia, and several councillors, attended the ceremony. Between 1929 and 1930, the band played in many local towns and won second prize in a 1931 competition organised in Torrent. A high artistic level was achieved, and a result, music teachers, directors, and musicians from Xirivella can now be found throughout Spain. The band runs a music school together with the town council. The school, directed by Serafín Martínez and Raúl Seguí, teaches musical theory, piano, guitar, wood, and percussion instruments. The current president, José Correa Beltrán, and board of directors are committed to ensuring that the band soon wins its greatest awards. Awards won to date include: 1968. Valencia International Music Band Contest – third prize and first prize for directing in the second section. 1968. Cullera competition – first prize 1987.
